Company Director, Pilates Instructor, Nordic Walking Instructor
Christine is founder and director of Core Control Pilates which relocated to the current purpose built centre in 2013 in order to provide a wide variety of mat classes and equipment classes to the local community.
Christine first discovered Pilates in her late teens in London when she attended classes with Christine Hocking. Keen on fitness already she found the classes very different to any other exercises she had tried and loved how it made her feel! On returning back to her home in Wiltshire, unlike now, it was then impossible to find a Pilates teacher outside London!
After some years without Pilates and some injuries Christine rediscovered Pilates and found it was the only way of alleviating her chronic back, shoulder and neck pain.
Pilates made such a difference to Christine's life through improved movement and becoming pain free that she decided to train as an instructor. After qualifying in matwork with the highly regarded Body Control Pilates in 2002, Christine has continued to build on her experience and training by attending many educational courses and workshops over the years.
Christine also had extensive training to become a Pilates Reformer teacher (qualifying with distinction) and completed training on the additional Pilates studio equipment. She endeavours to pass on her passion and enthusiasm for Pilates and has a reputation as a compassionate teacher with great attention to detail. She is also a Supervising Teacher for Body Control Pilates so sometimes student teachers will be observing or training in her classes.
Always keen on outdoor activities, in 2015 Christine trained as a Nordic Walking Instructor which she believes perfectly complements Pilates for all-round fitness, being outside in nature and so beneficial to health and well-being in many ways.
Christine’s particular interests include hypermobility and she is currently undergoing extra training in this field.
