Christine grew up in Wiltshire but first discovered Pilates in 1984 in London with Christine Hocking in her late teens and loved it! However, back then it was impossible to find a teacher outside London! Upon return to the UK from working in Switzerland she restarted Pilates as it was the only way of alleviating her chronic back and neck pain.
In a hang gliding accident in her late 20's she broke her upper arm which needed plating and eft her with nerve damage and paralysis in her left hand & future stiffness in her shoulder.
Pilates made such a difference to Christine's life, realeasing tension and strengthening around joints, that she decided to become an instructor. After qualifying in matwork with the highly regarded Body Control Pilates® in 2002, Christine has taught classes at various locations around Wiltshire as well as private sessions in her Pewsey based equipment studio. She is founder and director of Core Control Pilates which relocated to the current purpose built centre at Lydeway in January 2013 in order to provide more variety of mat classes and equipment classes to cater for clients needs.
By attending many continuing education courses and workshops each year, Christine has continued to increase her experience and qualifications to a very high standard. She is also a Supervising Teacher for Body Control Pilates®.
Christine had extensive training to become a Pilates Reformer teacher (qualifying with distinction) and is certified to teach to advanced level. She has also completed training on additional Pilates studio equipment including, the Chair, Ladder Barrel and Cadillac. She endeavours to pass on her passion and enthusiasm for Pilates and has a reputation as a compassionate teacher with great attention to detail.
Always keen on outdoor activities Christine is a keen dog walker, moutain-biker and scuba diver as well as previously hang-gliding and training as a microlight pilot. There are few outdoor activities Christine hasn't tried & loved (and she is always keen to do more), unfortunately running a studio and treatment centre, which she also loves, gets in the way of indulging in these full time!
In 2015 Christine became a Nordic Walking Instructor which she believes perfectly compliments Pilates classes being aerobic and so beneficial to health and well-being in numerous ways.
